As we begin a new year, the Women’s Network is gearing up for another year of networking, mentoring and supporting female attorneys and clients throughout our community. That spirit begins in the classroom as Dickinson Wright’s Women’s Network is proud again to be a supporter of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Foundation Scholarships.
The Dickinson Wright Women’s Network Scholarship annually honors an outstanding woman law student attending one of Michigan’s five accredited law schools – University of Michigan Law School, Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Michigan State University College of Law, Wayne State University Law School, and University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. The scholarship provides a tangible contribution to the education and future of high-potential women. This is the sixth year Dickinson Wright has supported the scholarship.
Dickinson Wright Associate Grace K. Trueman was honored as a Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Foundation Scholar for 2012. Ms. Trueman is based in the firm’s Detroit office. She began working at Dickinson Wright in the fall of 2012 after graduating with her J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. She focuses her practice in the areas of labor & employment litigation, insurance & ERISA litigation, antitrust & trade regulation, and commercial & business litigation. She is a member of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association and is a Certified General Civil Mediator through the Wayne Mediation Center. Ms. Trueman devotes her spare time as a volunteer at Offering Alternative Therapy with Smiles (O.A.T.S.), a therapeutic riding center in Clarkston, Mich.
The Dickinson Wright Women’s Network Scholarship is reserved for a student who has demonstrated leadership capabilities in advancing the position of women in society, in business and in the community. For 2013, the award will go to a student attending the University of Michigan Law School. For more information on the scholarship, click here.
